Verse of the Day October 4
This week we continue our series “Reimagining the Church.” Each week, we’ll explore a different New Testament image or metaphor for being disciples of Christ and the church and the focus this week is from the Gospel of Matthew. For Matthew, doing the will of God is what distinguishes a true disciple of Jesus including doing justice for the poor and those who are vulnerable.
Today’s reading is Matthew 25:31-46, The Basis for the Great Judgment.
The Verse of the Day are Matthew 25:35-36,
“for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.’
