Student Ministry
Like the rest of our church family, our Student Ministry exists to assist students along their journey to becoming fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. The foundation for the shape of our Student Ministry is that students are not just the church of tomorrow, but also the church of today.
In a friendly, honest, loving and fun environment, we are consistently sharing and celebrating the good news of God’s love, encouraging students to build a network of healthy relationships with other Christians, and providing opportunities for spiritual growth.
Discovering and using their spiritual gifts for the glory of God is a great way for students to mature in life and Christ.
We help them make choices and develop habits that will provide spiritual momentum, to keep them moving along on their journey with Jesus and carry them over and through the difficult times.
*Some of our service projects and special events are for high school students only.
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.”
— 1 Timothy 4:12
Our programs provide students with a place to bring their questions, and learn to follow Jesus in an environment that is honest, fun, and encourages healthy relationships. Our Student Ministry programs are for Students in Middle School, grades 6-8, and High School, grades 9-12.
The ministry has five primary components: Sunday School, the Sunday Student Ministry Program, “First and Thirds,” missions and service, and special events.
In Sunday School, students study and learn about a variety of themes, subjects, and questions that relate to their spiritual life.
Sunday School
Meets at 10:00 hour
Middle School with Christy Pranga
High School with Jill Scalise
The Sunday Student Ministry Program is a time of fellowship, games, and music, followed by a time of discipleship.
Middle School and High School meet separately; during this small group time students can ask questions and discuss the best ways to put their faith into action. Sunday nights from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
“First and Thirds” is a time of fellowship for students and leaders, just hanging out and getting to know each other. We play board games, ping pong, video games, listen to music, etc. It is a safe alternative to other Friday night activities and an avenue to introduce their friends to our community. The First and Third Friday nights of each month 7:00 – 10:00 p.m.
We do missions and service* through mission trips, the World Vision 30 Hour Famine, serving lunch at the Salvation Army, raking leaves, and other community projects.
We also have lots of special events*, including
- Messy Game Night
- Deep Freeeze (a weekend retreat in NH)
- summer barbecues
- mini golf
- Unite Cape (an evening of fun and worship that brings together students from across the Cape)
