2/22 Hagar – When You’ve Been Mistreated Genesis 21:8-21.

When we’ve been mistreated and our self-worth is low and our prospects for the future seem dim – that might not seem like a time when we’d encounter God, but it can happen for us as it did for Hagar.

3/1 Samuel – When You Can’t Sleep 1 Samuel 3:1-10.

sign-up-now-red-cropIt can be frustrating to lie in bed tossing and turning unable to sleep; especially when our mind starts racing and we start thinking about all kinds of things.

Yet, those quiet hours in the middle of the night are a prime time when the Lord may speak to us, if we’re willing to listen.

3/8 Jeremiah – Seeking the Welfare of the Place You Live Jeremiah 29:1-7.

We often think of finding God in church in a worship service or while we read the Bible or pray. However, through the prophet Jeremiah God reminds us that in seeking the welfare of the place where we live – in serving our community and being good neighbors – we just might find that God is found there as well in unexpected ways.

3/15 A Little Girl and a Woman – When You Can’t Get Well Mark 5:21-43.

Few things can be more mentally or physically challenging than having a chronic condition that just won’t seem to go away, except perhaps for the death of a child. This passage from Mark deal with a little girl and a woman neither of whom can get well. It is pretty amazing when Jesus shows up when we can’t get well.

3/22 A Centurion – In Someone You Don’t Expect  Matthew 8:5-13.

We expect to meet God in people who are like us – people who believe like us, look like us, and act like we do. It can be quite surprising and stunning when we discover faith in someone who outwardly seems utterly different than ourselves. This is what happens to Jesus when he meets a Roman Centurion and it can happen for us as well.
