Come hear the sounds of angels. Join us for a free concert, presented by Conductor Charles Zachary Bornstein, the Cape Academy Ensemble and Brewster Baptist Church. The ALL-MOZART PROGRAM will be hosted at Brewster Baptist Church, 1848 Main Street (on 6A between 124 and 137), Brewster, MA on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 7:00 p.m.

Internationally renowned conductor and pianist, Charles Z. Bornstein, for the first time on Cape Cod, will direct the Cape Academy Ensemble, a newly-formed Chamber Orchestra. This is a FREE All-Mozart Concert, the first concert of a series – Don’t miss it!

This work is thought to be the most mature symphony from his Salzburg period. A section from this symphony gave the writer of the Amadeus play, the entire idea of the divine aspect of Mozart through his use of common materials.

CHARLES ZACHARY BORNSTEIN

Bornstein was born in Buffalo NY and worked as a youth with Lukas Foss in composition, piano, orchestration and conducting. Bornstein graduated from the JUILLIARD SCHOOL, SALZBURG MOZARTEUM and VIENNA MASTERCLASS while studying privately with Hans Swarowsky. He was named of Music Director/Conductor of the NEWFOUNDLAND SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA, LONDON MOZART FESTIVAL, the ROCKFORD SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA and the WOODSTOCK MOZART FESTIVAL. Mr. Bornstein worked exclusively with Iannis Xenakis and recorded his music with many ensembles including THE BBC PHILHARMONIC and the BAVARIAN RADIO ORCHESTRA. He was then named Leonard Bernstein Scholar in Residence of the New York Philharmonic 2005-2008. His analysis of Leonard Bernstein’s interpretations cultivated a more educated audience for the New York Philharmonic. He is presently compiling these lectures as a book under the title of BERNSTEIN CONCEPT. As pianist, Bornstein played piano concertos with many orchestras here and abroad. His compositions were performed at Buffalo’s Albright-Knox Art Gallery and his SYMPHONY JFK/MLK JR IN MEMORIAM was performed with the BUFFALO PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA for its first Martin Luther King Jr. national broadcast. The symphony’s world premiere was with the American Symphony Orchestra in CARNEGIE HALL.

CAPE ACADEMY ENSEMBLE

Charles Z Bornstein formed the Cape Academy Ensemble with support from Bo Ericsson of the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra and the collective services of the Brewster Baptist Church’s committees and highly professional staff. The idea came full circle when Bornstein met Pastor Douglas Scalise, of Brewster Baptist Church, a Mozart devotee, and started thinking of a chamber orchestra that could match the needs of the Cape centered in Brewster. For founding and developing the ensemble, Bornstein draws his inspiration not only from his love of music but also from his love of the Cape–its people, the sea, the beauty and purity of its natural surroundings.  The atmosphere within the Brewster Baptist Church sanctuary will surely contribute to the spirit and joy of the ensemble’s performance.
