Reimagining the Future: Pastoral Candidate Rev. Nate and Jennie Ryan
On Sunday, May 26, Pastor Doug announced the unanimous recommendation of the Leadership Council to call Rev. Nate Ryan to be the Pastor of Discipleship at Brewster Baptist Church.
We will have a Special Congregational Meeting to vote on Sunday, June 16 at 11:15 a.m.
A letter from Pastor Doug went out on Friday, May 31, and we wanted to share a little more about Nate and Jennie.

Nate grew up here in Brewster, MA, where he was raised attending Brewster Baptist Church. He was an active member of our Student Ministry.

After graduating from Nauset Regional High School, Nate attended Gordon College on the North Shore of Massachusetts, where he completed a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies and Christian Ministries in 2019 and a Masters of Theological Studies from Boston College in 2021.

His wife Jennie was born and raised in Bedford, MA. After graduating from Beford High School, she completed her Bachelor of Music Education at Gordon College, and then earned her Masters in Choral Conducting from the New England Conservatory in 2021.
Since then, she has been teaching middle school band, choir, and orchestra.
Nate and Jennie met and began their relationship while attending Gordon College. They both interned at Brewster Baptist during the summers of 2019 and 2020, working with Pastor Doug creating and participating in Sunday worship, and working together with other interns to create Wednesday evening worship services.
Nate and Jennie were married here at BBC in July of 2021 and then moved to PA to begin their ministry at West Springfield Baptist Church. Nate was ordained at West Springfield Baptist Church in November of 2022.

Nate’s primary interests in ministry are preaching, teaching, church history, spiritual formation, and equipping others to recognize the signs of God’s Kingdom around them every day. At the core of Nate’s philosophy of ministry is allowing God’s Word to shape and form His people to seeing themselves as active participants in His redemptive story.
From the call of Abraham onward, God has called a people to Himself to share a collective story that gives them a sense of identity, purpose, and belonging. Helping others to adopt this narrative as their own story so that they might better love God and love their neighbor is at the heart of Nate’s mission as a pastor.
Outside of the church, Nate and Jennie enjoy singing in community choirs, cooking meals together, and rooting for Nate’s beloved New York Jets. They are also avid board game lovers and classic movie enthusiasts. Jaws is Nate’s all-time favorite movie, and Pitch Perfect is Jennie’s. Jennie also loves to bake sourdough bread.
At Brewster Baptist Church, Nate would serve as Pastor of Discipleship, primarily serving in the areas of Student Ministry and Adult Discipleship. They would be living in the parsonage next door, with Jennie continuing to teach music in the local area. If you would like hear Nate preach, you can find his weekly sermons on the West Springfield Baptist Church Facebook Page or you can watch his sermon “Is Hearing God’s Word Enough?” and the summer vespers services they led on our Brewster Baptist Church YouTube page.
