Reimagining Our Future: Gwyneth Preu, Family Ministry Coordinator

Gwyneth Preu grew up in a family that attended church regularly and was blessed with learning about God at home, through Sunday School and involvement in Pioneer Clubs when younger, then Young Life in high school.

Attending Gordon College, a Christian college in Massachusetts, further solidified her faith and her desire to work in a profession that helps others.

Gwyneth has worked as a social worker in various settings, including with low-income families, with people who are homeless, and with adoptive and foster families.

For 4.5 years, she lived in Uganda, working for a study-abroad program that brought North American students to learn about the area and work in local internships.

Gwyneth met her husband, Jon, in 2013 and they have 3 elementary school aged children – Hannah, Madeline and Oliver.

Gwyneth’s family started attending BBC in the summer of 2016.

They were drawn to the children’s programming, the preaching and the welcoming feel of the church.

Gwyn became involved with Mom 2 Mom right away and eventually started leading that ministry in 2019.

The Preu family

She and Jon volunteered in the nursery and attended family events, getting to know more people, and then missed all those connections during the COVID-19 shutdowns.

From 2022-2023, Gwyneth served on the Leadership Council, which helped her learn so much about the church and its needs. One need that continued to come up was for a staff person to focus on Children’s Ministry after Pastor Barbara Burrill left to be closer to family in 2021, and Gwyn felt a pull toward considering that role.

In March of 2023, she started working at the church as Family Ministry Coordinator.

So many pieces led her towards this position being the right fit for her, her family, and the church.

She is very grateful to work in such a supportive place and get to interact with many wonderful people.

Most of Gwyneth’s role at BBC involves ministry with children and parents and welcoming them to church. In addition to Mom 2 Mom, she works with the nursery and Sunday School, plans monthly family events, works with many volunteers and leads Vacation Bible School.

She also enjoys being a part of church life by leading the Wednesday Walks, participating in membership interviews, participating in worship, and helping with various events.

Gwyneth just finished her first year leading VBS and it was a great success. She is excited for Pastor Nate Ryan to begin his ministry at BBC and is looking forward to working with him to coordinate all the upcoming fall events and continuing to grow this ministry into the future.  You can find a copy of these upcoming events in the lobby and on our website and church app.
