“In serving as the Brewster Town Administrator for 24 rewarding years I have quite a history with the Brewster Baptist Church.  We ask for something, a favor, meeting space for flu clinics and elections, use of the parking lot, an easement for a sidewalk to the Ladies Library and it is provided without question. The State decides that we will have to hold a special election for the late Senator Kennedy’s office; we contact the Brewster Baptist Church and they move heaven and earth, change all kinds of pre–scheduled meetings to accommodate the Town of Brewster. I also have a perspective as a parent of a member of the Brewster Baptist Church. My daughter Emily has been active in Brewster Baptist Church in the past. In addition all three of my children were quite involved in the Youth Group program under Associate Pastor Kevin Saxton. Kevin helped make the Youth Group inviting to everyone no matter what their religious background was. Through this wonderful experience I learned that the doors of the Brewster Baptist Church were open to everyone, such as the Boy Scouts, hosting the homeless, the Thanksgiving dinner for the business community and much more. I also would like to thank Kevin for his sensitive and caring assistance on morethan a few occasions; he was the first to call to offer assistance and counsel to the Sumner family over these many years. I would like to express my most sincere appreciation and wish Kevin and his family the very best in their move to Pennsylvania.”
