“While Peter was kept in prison – the church prayed fervently to God for him.”

“and when Barnabas had found Saul – he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for an entire year they met with the church and taught a great many people – and it was in Antioch that the disciples were first called “Christians.”

“and Peter said to them – “You yourselves know that it is unlawful for a Jew to associate with or to visit a Gentile; but God has shown me that I should not call anyone profane or unclean.”

“But Barnabas took Saul – brought him to the apostles – and described for them how on the road he had seen the Lord – who had spoken to him – and how in Damascus he had spoken boldly in the name of Jesus.”

“Therefore – friends – select from among yourselves seven men of good standing – full of the Spirit and of wisdom – whom we may appoint to this task – while we – for our part – will devote ourselves to prayer and to serving the word.”

“God exalted him at his right hand as Leader and Savior that he might give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.”

“Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John and realized that they were uneducated and ordinary men – they were amazed and recognized them as companions of Jesus.”
