A Day at the Beach

I wonder how often we think about Jesus and the disciples doing something as familiar to us as enjoying a beach, grilling fish and eating and talking together. Notice who goes on this fishing trip in John 21: Simon Peter, Thomas, Nathanael, the sons of Zebedee, and two others. All of these men made strong vocal statements about their commitment to do anything, to go anywhere for Jesus, even to death itself. All of them experienced the risen Christ more than once. So where do they go? They go fishing.
