Week 1 Philippians: Joy & Encouragement in Difficult Times

We are learning from Paul’s letter to the Philippians so we’re going to spend a chunk of time in this first session reading the Bible aloud to set the scene.

Understanding the setting and context of the Church in Philippi is important (just as if we knew a church was in Brewster on Cape Cod versus being in Manhattan in New York City that would be helpful in picturing what it might be like). It would also help to know a little more about what happened when Paul arrived in the city and the church began.
