Congregational Prayer 8/16/09
Offered by Pastor Mary Scheer
Dear Lord, we listen to this scripture and hear you say keep my decrees, laws, commands and statutes and it can feel strict and hard to do, but in those same words we find promise, delight and comfort and so we come with confidence in your goodness.
God help us to turn our heart toward your statutes, we want to do what you say, to know your decrees. So many things can lead us in the wrong direction. Help us to be drawn in the right way, toward you and your words that direct and guide, words that give life and hope.
Save us Lord from our sin, from our mistakes and the things in our world that cause sickness and pain and suffering. We need your healing.
We stand with those who are hoping and trusting in you.
We pray for our loved ones on our prayer sheet, folks in our church family and those we know who are faced with a sickness or disease, and those recovering from surgery.
God, you are strong and powerful, bigger than anything we face, preserve us according to your word. Thank you Lord for the assurance in your word and the promise of your love.
In Jesus name. Amen.
