Devotional Classics Class — The Prayer-Filled Life

As BBC continues in its year-long initiative of encountering God through a growing commitment to slowing down and cultivating spiritual disciplines that ground us in our Christian walk, we’re excited to announce the return of our Devotional Classics class.

Devotional Classics is a wonderful resource, edited by Richard Foster and James Bryan Smith, that takes excerpts from classic texts on Christian spirituality throughout church history and turns them into digestible reflections — inviting us into deeper prayer, thoughtful engagement, and spiritual renewal.

This edition will focus specifically on what it looks like to live a prayer-filled life — what has historically been called the contemplative tradition. Each class includes a reading from a classic Christian writer, a guided discussion, and closes with practical suggestions for weaving spiritual practices into the rhythms of daily life, nurturing a vibrant inner life with God.

Pastor Doug and Pastor Nate will be leading the class, offered twice a week for seven weeks:

  • Wednesdays at 12:00 pm, beginning September 9
  • Thursdays at 7:00 pm, beginning September 10

We’d love to have you join us as we slow down together and grow in the practice of prayer.
