Verse of the Day July 7
There is no denying that our times are difficult, and the challenges we wrestle with are daunting. To help us navigate such times, we will look at how Jesus, in Luke 4, defied simplistic narratives with his claim to fulfill Isaiah 61 as Messiah in ways different from popular expectation.
He proclaimed God’s grace for everyone, including outsiders and oppressors, which shocked and angered his own community. His message calls us to reject polarization and embrace a deeper, inclusive grace. Our challenge is to participate in God’s redemptive work, healing divisions and embodying love in a complex world. This week, Pastor Doug and Rev. Patti Ricotta will help us explore these verses. will share about expecting and facing persecution.
Today’s reading is Isaiah 61:1-11, All Nations Will See God’s Faithfulness and Blessing.
The Verse of the Day is Isaiah 61:11,
For as the earth brings forth its shoots, and as a garden causes what is sown in it to spring up, so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring up before all the nations.
